Apprehension of Inmate Who Walked Away from Vallecito Conservation Camp in Calaveras County

CALAVERAS – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials have apprehended a minimum-security inmate who walked away from the Vallecito Conservation Camp, located near the community of Angels Camp, in Calaveras County, early in the morning on May 13, 2015.
Inmate Taurus Hendricks, 22, had been last seen at approximately 5:10 a.m. while being interviewed by camp staff. Once the inmate was believed to be missing an emergency count was conducted.
Camp staff searched the inmate dormitory area, surrounding buildings and the camp perimeter after it was determined that he was missing.  All local law enforcement agencies and the California Highway Patrol were notified and assisted in the search for Hendricks.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., Inmate Hendricks was apprehended near the town of Murphys in Calaveras County by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department.
Inmate Taurus Hendricks was committed to CDCR on August 15, 2014, from Sacramento County to serve a four-year sentence for First Degree Burglary.  He was scheduled to parole in August 2015.
